If cyanide-like poison had been smeared on the buffalo’s neck or hindquarters, In the buildings teeming with tigers, Those tigers lowering their posture—it’s merely a strategy for hunting. Guarding the path, Waiting for the herd of gnus to pass, Waiting for the stragglers left behind. The herd of gnus running and running, Realizing there’s a straggler among them, Turning back to lift the tiger with their horns, Tossing it back and forth like playing with a ball— It’s more exhilarating than scoring a goal in a World Cup match. Exhilarating.
